The requirements for wind loads, which a Dutch building Construction must meet are described in the ISO standards under the Dutch Standardization Institute. For a fully supported construction with the traditional standing seam, roll cap and lozenge roof coverings mainly wind suction occurs.

For cantilevered structures wind pressure, weight and consequently the deflection of the material are involved. Also the method of attachment and the chosen system are important.

The occurring wind suction on a wall or roof section depends on the height, shape and location of the building. Wind suction is determined as a distributed suction in N/m² , perpendicular to a surface facing away from the wind.
