Natural patina layer
The strength of zinc lies in the natural patina layer that forms under the influence of the elements. The patina protects the underlying zinc and is also self-healing: minor scratches disappear of their own accord. This makes zinc a particularly durable building metal by nature. At NedZink, this principle is optimised using our own pre-weathering line. The pre-weathered zinc grades NEO, NOVA and NOIR are produced using mill-finished titanium zinc as the base material and undergo a carefully monitored phosphating process. This creates a surface that closely resembles the natural patina layer, whilst fully retaining all the original material properties. The material is zinc through and through: when cut or drilled, the edges will not oxidise.
